Dear Old and New Memberships,

Welcome to the new school year! The new problems are posted on-line and you can download them from the member section of the international website if you are a member. So FAX in those memberships!

I have a new job this year and I am concerned that the challenges that you have faced in the past in getting timely and useful responses from me will probably increase this year.

However I have great faith in our collective Southern Region membership! We reorganized last year and although it was our first attempt at running the region with every membership completing a job we got everything done!

Please see below for the names of the new committee members!

Some of you have already asked if we are going to have a meeting again this year. To be honest I have so many plates in the air that I can’t figure out a time. I am wiling to bet that you may be feeling just as challenged by the time-space-continuum.

So we (as a region) are moving to Phase-2 of our re-organizational plan! – Electronic communication and directors for different goals

We have a new Membership Director – Pat Cracchiolo (emeritus regional director and also the current assistant state problem captain for problem 3) Pat’s email is: pkhealy@cracchiolo.com

Pat’s main role will be to communicate with each membership and identify the job they are volunteering to complete to run our region and tournaments.
Please email her and let her know your membership name, contact phone and email, and contact people
Let her know what job you did last year and whether that is the job you want again this year
Pat will assemble a working list of who is doing what.

Later in the year she will be working with our Judging Director (Terri Korman) so that we can make sure all your judges are accounted for and communicated with. We had some problems with the registration of judges and I will be working on getting that system to work more effectively. However, the old fashioned phone call and email will be our region’s back-up plan.

This email has some of those all important dates and more will be coming soon!

Judges Training dates are TBA, however we do have one date – Nov 6th at CDO from 10am – noon. (Coaches Training Presenter TBA)

We need a few earlier dates so please feel free to volunteer to host one at a public library or school site.

Feb 5 – Judges Training – Canyon del Oro - 8am - 12 noon

March 5 – Regional – Canyon del Oro

March 19 – State – Canyon del Oro

Please check the schedule on the main page for the most current dates.

Please note that the state tournament is only 2 weeks after the regional. Those teams that qualify for state will automatically be registered for state without the team having to re-register. This should allow us to start working on the schedule the Monday after the regional.
We hope that the earlier date will improve World Finalist teams’ opportunities to fundraise and make all the arrangements needed.
